GCSE Russian preparation

We prepare pupils for all four papers of the GCSE Russian exam: Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading.

In these lessons pupils develop their spoken and written Russian, learn to understand texts and audio material, express their ideas accurately and work confidently with exam-style tasks.

What GCSE preparation covers

The programme covers every main area of the exam:

• Speaking — confident spoken responses

• Writing — accurate writing and extended answers

• Listening — understanding spoken Russian

• Reading — reading and comprehension

• working through past exam papers

• mock exams and detailed feedback

Many pupils have already come through our preparation, and our students have achieved Grade 9 in GCSE Russian.

Why group lessons matter

Alongside one-to-one preparation, we place great value on working in a group.

Debates, discussion and a healthy element of competition help pupils retain material better, teach them to argue a point, formulate answers more quickly and speak Russian with greater confidence.

This format is particularly valuable when preparing for the Speaking paper and builds the skills needed for a high grade.
