Maths for children, taught in Russian

In maths lessons children develop logical thinking, attention, memory and confident calculation skills. We aim not simply to teach a child to count, but to help them understand mathematical patterns, reason and find solutions for themselves. Lessons take place at First Russian School in Kensington and Chelsea, next to Sloane Square station.

In lessons children don't simply memorise rules and formulas — they learn why a solution works. We work through problems step by step, compare different approaches and teach children to explain their reasoning.

Playful tasks, puzzles and practical examples make maths clear and engaging. Children learn to count, compare, analyse, spot patterns and apply what they know in everyday situations.

The right level for every child

Tasks are chosen to match each child's age and level. Those who already handle the basics confidently move on to harder logic problems and non-standard challenges.
